Double Down elicits heart attacks – and satire

02 Jun

Friday is usually the day for funnies here on the blog, but hey, the KFC Double Down is back in Canada so I just couldn’t wait. You may remember my out-of-body experience when the DD first hit Canada – well hey, now the chicken monstrosity has 10% less sodium. As one of my Twitter followers put it yesterday: “Isn’t infinity minus 10% still infinity?”

I’m not sure if it’s the astronomical sodium or the sky-high fat content that makes the Double Down such an easy target for ridicule, but man is it ever. Here’s the funniest video I’ve seen on the topic – it’s the outtakes from the sandwich’s commercial:

While we’re at it, here are a couple more funny takes. Here’s one that looks at where the Double Down may eventually end up while this one that suggests some African American cultural satire. And what the hell – it has nothing to do with the Double Down, but here’s MC Hammer pushing KFC’s popcorn chicken from the nineties.

If you’ve never seen Patton Oswalt’s sketch about KFC bowls, I seriously suggest watching it. It’s just about as good as the video you posted. And thanks for the laugh!

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve mentioned Patton’s “failure pile” in these here parts several times: Bloody funny stuff.
